WAJE

Aituaje Iruobe (born September 1), who is mostly known as WAJE which is the acronym for “Words aren’t just enough” is a Nigerian singer whose vocal range covers three octaves. The lady behind the remake of P-Square’s “Omoge Mi” and the female voice in the duo’s 2008 hit track “Do Me”, Banky W “Thief my Kele”,M.I “One Naira” Early life Waje was born in Akure in Nigeria then moved to Benin where she was raised by her parents, Mr & Mrs Iruobe. As a young and gifted singer, she once sang gospel tunes to the delight of the late Archbishop Benson Idahosa of the Word of Faith Church, Benin who was quite impressed by her gift and decided to cater for her all through her secondary school days. After which she moved to Enugu for a degree in social work at University of Nigeria. While in school, Waje was very much with her musical side by making sure she performed in school concerts and fellowship. She made sure she listened and learned from legends she describes as her mentors,e.g WHITNEY HOUSTON,ARETHA FRANKLIN E.T.C. Career & Success Waje started singing professionally in 2005 while she was still in school, University of Nigeria and has since taken over the scene. In 2008, Waje participated in the Zain/MTV Africa’s Advance Warning competition and was in the top three. She released “Somewhere” which got a Hip Hop World Award nomination for Best Vocal Performance (Female) while “Kolo” got her a nomination at the Nigeria Music Video Awards for Best New Video. Another track of hers is Adaku.In 2011 Waje released a hit single entitled So Inspired featuring Muna, she also has an awesome High-life/R&B Single out “Na The Way” where she featured another Nigerian High-life King “J-Martins” on heavy rotation in Nigerian, Ghana, South Africa, Major African countries and as we speak England. Waje has shared the stage with various internationa artistes. She performed with the phenomenal Wyclef Jean on stage in South Africa.She also opened for Keri Hilson during a show organised in Calabar, Nigeria. Apart from music Waje is presently creating a new organization called “INSPIRED” were she mentors and counsels youngsters from age 12-25 in career building and positive development.She has also shown patriotism by participating in a campaign concert organised by the “Youngsters Organisation” tagged “You Can’t Swag My Vote” in conjunction with IRI and USAID in a campaign to encourage youths to exercise their franchise.
